Emmy Lou Memorial
Commission Work 2025
Emmy Lou was a very special kangaroo — hand-reared by dedicated Wildlife Carers and later released into the wild here at Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park, like all the kangaroos in this area. She lived an extraordinary life of 25 years, and it was two years ago that she passed away—right here on this beach she called home.
This was her beach. We are the visitors.
It was around that time I first met Murray, the local Wildlife Officer and the guide many of you will meet if you visit at sunrise to see the kangaroos and wallabies along the shore. In honour of Emmy Lou, we decided to create a memorial—a tribute hand-cut from 3mm corten steel in my Melbourne workshop.
It’s a joy to now see it installed in this special place, a reminder of a gentle presence and a long life lived wild and free.
